Kinja'd!!!

Time for a cold one. Any big plans for the weekend?

We’re getting up bright and early (well, early, but not necessarily bright) to volunteer at the Central Texas Food Bank. Have to be there at 8:30. Yawn. After that, just chilling out.

Back in the early 90s, my wife and I, along with her mother and older brothers, took a trip to Denmark. My wife’s grandmother was originally from Copenhagen , and her grandfather was from Viborg,  Sweden, so she’s just second generation American. We took a tour of the Carlsberg/Tuborg factory while we were there, and I became a huge fan of Tuborg. I remember seeing commercials for it here in the States back in the 70s, but I’ve never seen it since. We get Carlsberg, but it’s brewed in France. Technically imported, but not made with Danish water.

Der durstige Mann: The Thirsty Man

At the end of the tour, we were allowed to sample various beers they made at the factory. One was the Tuborg Sort Guld, or Black Gold, which was really quite tasty. I talked to our guide and said that we were going to Sweden for a day, and asked what beers I should try while I was over there. She said, “Oh, Sweden doesn’t make any good beer.” As we rode the ferry across to Helsingborg, there were many people with hand carts stacked with cases of Danish beer. On the way back, there was a similar number of people with hand carts stacked with cases of empty bottles. It looked like the guide was right.

Y’all have a good weekend.

Well now I need to try some Danish beer. Carry out and yard work is about it. Going to be a little cool out this weekend so I’d like to wax the truck for “fun” stuff.

Cheers to you and yours for volunteering!

They’ve got some cases of Oktoberfest beers at Costco, but I have trouble paying premium prices for 11.2-ounce bottles.

I’m going to be a few thousand poorer and much happier tomorrow. Expect a report tomorrow night.

Well, I’m assuming that 11.2 ounces is equal to whatever the serving size is in Europe. I prefer  .5L cans. I can get various Euro beers in that format. I think that I drink more when the bottle is short, or even 12 oz, because they finish so soon and you go get another. The .5L seems to last longer, but not just because it’s more beer.

Hmmm .5l cans. . I think I might have to do research on this. Good excuse to go to the cool beer store. Not many around me carry good stuff that size.

Be sure you have a .5L glass, though. Gotta pour it. Bitburger is pretty common in that size.

Thanks. Been a long wait.

Technically isn’t pulled until tomorrow but I’m definitely trigger-happy.

I have opted for the liquid version of black Russian bread... made by West coast American Capitalist pigs.

Neat. I have just never been a stout man. Well, the more pilsner I drink, the stouter I get, but you know what I mean.

Pilsner and other watery stuff is a mistake when your piss freezes long before it hits the ground. There’s never a repeat of the icicle climbing back up to t he water source.  Never.
